President

 Nicoleen Johnson was born in Westmoreland, Jamaica.

She attended Herbert Morrison Technical High School and later the University of Technology, Jamaica where she obtained a First Class Honours Bachlor’s Degree in Business Administration - Marketing major.

In 1997, she was awarded a Scholarship by China Scholarship Council to pursue a Master’s Degree in International Relations at Fudan University in Shanghai China.

In 2002, Dr. Johnson continued into the PhD program at Fudan University and upon completion, started her own business as an independent trade consultant of China Trade Consulting Co. Ltd., assisting companies to conduct business in China.

Capitalizing on over 11 years experience of living, studying and working in China, Dr. Johnson has a solid background and understanding of the local Chinese people - their culture, their language and their unique business environment, allowing her to help bridge the gap between the varied communication and cultural barriers. She continues to be a pioneer for Jamaicans in China.

 Born and brought up in  Kingston, Jamaica, Ms. Liza Chang received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Canada and has worked both there, the United States and Jamaica before moving to Asia in 1994 with her husband a hotel General Manager.

Liza has lived in Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, and in China, Chengdu, Wuhan, Sanya and currently lives in Shanghai.

Now an independent spa consultant, she brings a multicultural understanding to her profession and to her relationship with clients and colleagues.

With the wealth of knowledge and experience accumulated from varied roles in spa industry, most recently as General Manager of Greater China for MSPA International, Liza now offers individually tailored pre-opening and technical support services for clients who are intent on opening a spa.

 Mr. Paul Looklong is from Trinidad, has lived in China for more than 8 years and Hong Kong 6 years.

With experience in the advertising and publishing industry for more than 14 years.
Paul is currently the Managing Editor for InTouch Magazine, a premier luxury publication for the Hyatt Hotel in China

Julian Francis was born in the capital of the beautiful Islands of The Bahamas - Nassau.

He is one of the top graduates of Kingsway Academy, where he found his passion for advanced oversees culture.

During his high school years, Julian was involved in many extra curricular activities that influenced his community and school and hence was awarded a full scholarship to study in China from both the Bahamian and Chinese government.

After completing his studies in Computer Science and Communication, Julianhad obtained a wife, two lovely bilingual children and his career in education to prepare young Chinese learners for life and oversees studies .

As one of the founding members of the Caribbean Association in China, he is serving this year as the Treasurer for the association.

Mr. Basil Toyloy is from Jamaica and has been in China for 3 years

He has worked for GM and Delphi in the US since 1978 and is presently the Director of Engineering for Delphi Electronics and Safety at the China Technical Center in Shanghai.

He has a BS Electrical Engineering from the University of the West Indies and a MS Computer Engineering from Wayne State University

Marian Bradshaw was born in and lived the first of the nine years of her life in Port of Spain, Trinidad.

Thereafter, she and her family moved to Mount Vernon, New York where she attended private Catholic schools for elementary, middle, and high school. Marian earned a Bachelor of Arts in  History from the college of the Holy Cross, Worcester, MA (1993) and Masters in Curriculum and Teaching from Michigan State University (2001).

Marian has been a middle and high school language arts and social studies teacher for the past 17 years at both public and private schools. Twelve of those seventeen years have been overseas in Cairo, Egypt (Cairo American College), New Delhi, India (American Embassy School), and currently at the Shanghai American School here in Shanghai Pudong, China.

 EarlThe Vice-President

Earl Carr’s father is from Mandeville, Jamaica and his mother is ethnic Chinese. Mr. Carr was originally born in Panama and then grew up in New York City.

He received his undergraduate degree from The College of  William & Mary majoring in International Relations.

He studied abroad in both China and Japan (Beijing Normal University and International Christian University, Tokyo) before obtaining his Master’s Degree from American University with  a focus on International Affairs.

From 2002 - 2005, he worked at the Council on Foreign Relations as a Research Associate where he assisted in publishing CFR’s Bipartisan Task Force Report entitled: ” The North Korean Nuclear Challenge “.

In 2005, he was hired as the Associate Director for Asia Pacific Studies at the Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise (Washington Center) and helped to raise $700,000 for communities located in Lam Kaen, Thailand that were affected by the devastating 2004 Tsunami.

Mr. Carr has over six years of experience in conducting research on the political economy of Asia and also possesses over four years of experience working in non-profit business organization.

He relocated from Washington DC to Shanghai, China to work as Research Marketing Specialist for McKinsey in their China Knowledge Center.

In February 2007, he co-authered “Doing Business in China” ; A McKinsey survey of Executives in Asia published in the McKinsey Quarterly.

Currently, Mr. Carr serves as the Assistant Vice President working in the Strategy Department of HSBC Bank located in Shanghai.

 

ShaunaThe Secretary

Shauna Taylor was born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica.

She is a past student of the Mona Preparatory School, St. Andrew High School for Girls’ and St. Jago High School.

From an early stage in life, she had been deeply fascinated by nature and it was only fitting that her pursuit of a degree in Zoology at the University of the West Indies, Jamaica, would follow suite.

Upon her graduation in 2002, she became the Assistant Hatchery Manager for the University of the West Indies Shrimp Project.

In 2005, she was awarded a full scholarship from the Chinese government in collaboration with the Government of Jamaica and is currently a student at Shanghai’s Jiao Tong University pursuing a Masters Degree in Environmental Engineering.

 

JullianThe Treasurer

There Alexander is from the Spice Island of the Caribbean - Grenada.

She has been living in China since September 2007 after being offered a scholarship by the Chinese Government and is currently a full student pursuing a Bachelor Degree in International Finance at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics.
